课程概览
本课程从每册书选取最具代表性及特点的6个单元，通过帮助学生阅读符合其认知和情感特点的优秀范文，掌握基本阅读技能和语言基础知识，逐步形成系统的组织和表达思想的能力，同时利用阅读材料所提供的英语语言素材和相关主题知识，培养学生综合使用语言的能力。第一、二册侧重语言基本能力的培养，其主题内容与学生的学业生活和所需的社会知识密切相关，第三、四册在继续培养语言基本能力的基础上，着重满足大学生学业或专业发展的需要。每个单元分为Lead-in Activities（导入）、Cultural Background（文化背景）、Text Analysis（文章分析）、Writing Strategy（写作技巧）、和 Vocabulary and Structure（词汇与结构）五部分。每个单元设有单元测试，是对所学知识的检测。本课程可满足通用英语课程中基础阶段的学习要求，为提高阶段奠定基础。
